Cambodia’ Ministry of Commerce and World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) have entered into a Cooperation Agreement on the Development of Intellectual Property Office Business Services, on the sidelines of the 56th ASEAN Economic Ministers (AEM) Meeting and Related Meetings in Vientiane, Lao PDR on Sept. 18.
The signatories were H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, and Chairwoman of National Committee for Intellectual Property Rights; and Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of the WIPO.
According to Ministry of Commerce, the Cooperation Agreement is aimed to promote the provision of intellectual Property (IP) registration services for business and IP system users in Cambodia, as well as disseminate IP information to support innovative technology and creativity, as well as national economic development.
Under the agreement, Cambodia and WIPO will continue their cooperation to develop an IP business service system, particularly electronic file management, digitalisation, searching, inputting an
d trademark data quality improvement, and consulting on IT strategy, infrastructure resource management in IP sector, and so on.
Before the signing ceremony, both sides also held a bilateral meeting to discuss Cambodia’ s IP system development, and business and entrepreneurship promotion.
