Ministry of Civil Service Celebrates 114th International Women’s Day with Focus on Rights and Empowerment


Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Civil Service has commemorated the 114th International Women’s Day under the theme ‘For ALL Women and Girls: Rights, Equality and Empowerment.’ The event, held on Mar. 14, was presided over by H.E. Hun Many, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Civil Service, and Honorary Chair of the Women’s Association for Peace and Development of the Ministry of Civil Service.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the ceremony brought together 250 participants, including senior officials and civil servants from the ministry, to recognize the contributions of women in public service and reaffirm commitments to gender equality and empowerment.



During the event, H.E. Ms. Sao Sokuntheary, Secretary of State and Chair of the Gender Working Group of the Ministry of Civil Service, presented a report highlighting key achievements in promoting gender equality within the civil service sector. She reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to advancing women’s roles and capabilities, aligning with the slogan: ‘Women are the Backbone of the National Economy.’



Following the presentation, H.E. Hun Many expressed appreciation for the hard work and dedication of female civil servants in leading, managing, and contributing to the development of public administration. He emphasized the government’s continued efforts in promoting gender equality, particularly under the Seventh Legislature of the National Assembly, led by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet.



He further reiterated that gender equality and women’s empowerment remain a top priority within the Pentagonal Strategy – Phase 1, which aims to build a more inclusive society based on morality, ethics, equity, and sustainability-where ‘women are at the core.’



The Ministry of Civil Service remains committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment, ensuring that women civil servants receive the necessary support and opportunities to contribute to national development alongside the royal government.
