Preah Sihanouk: The minister of tourism highlights the positive tourism prospects of Preah Sihanouk and calls the attention of the coastal province’s entities, pertinent authorities, and residents to seize the opportunity while helping promote its potential. H.E. Huot Hak voiced the message when co-chairing the launch of Preah Sihanouk’s five-day Cultural, Tourism, and Trade Fair with Provincial Governor Mang Sineth on Jan. 27.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, tourism is treasured by the government as the green gold, attributed to around three percent of Cambodia’s gross domestic product, lifting up people’s living standards while supporting the conservation of cultural and natural resources. For 2025, he said, Cambodia’s coastal areas are projected to receive 800,000 international tourists and about eight million domestic visitors. Preah Sihanouk province is expected to welcome about 450,000 international tourists and four million domestic visitors, he added.
He emphasised that sustainable and responsible tourism is made possible through a joint effort and contribution, and in return it is beneficial to all players, including the public, the private sector, relevant national and sub-national bodies, the media, as well as international cooperation. H.E. Huot Hak congratulated Preah Sihanouk province for hosting the Cultural, Tourism, and Trade Fair and for its outstanding achievements so far, such as regional recognitions and being the winner of the Clean City and Tourism City Awards and the best organiser of International New Year 2023.
