Phnom Penh: H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimal, Minister of Commerce, has encouraged investment in the electric vehicle (EV) market, citing potential to reduce costs, improve energy efficiency, and lower emissions, benefiting both consumers and the environment.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Minister made these remarks while presiding over the official launch of the Peugeot 408 2025 Series at the Premie Centre Sen Sok on Mar. 14. The event was attended by H.E. Jacques PELLET, Ambassador of France to Cambodia, along with other dignitaries, business leaders, and guests.
She emphasized the crucial role of private sector investment and public-private partnerships in driving national economic and social development. The Ministry of Commerce is committed to fostering fair competition to encourage innovation, productivity, and economic efficiency, she said.
As Chairwoman of the National Committee for Intellectual Property Management and the Cambodia Competition Commission, H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimal highlighted key initiatives such as promoting fair business practices by preventing anti-competitive activities and establishing mechanisms for efficient and flexible negotiated settlements of Competition Law violations.
Related to the new launch of the Peugeot 408 2025 Series, the commerce minister spoke highly of RMA Cambodia for its business growth and decision to expand the Peugeot brand’s presence in the Cambodian market. RMA Cambodia’s establishment of a car assembly plant has generated numerous jobs and enhanced the competitiveness of the Cambodian automotive market. This development has benefitted consumers by providing quality vehicles at reasonable prices, meeting diverse needs and preferences, she underlined.
