Minister of Agriculture Opens “Around the Mekong River” Programme at Film Festival

Phnom Penh: Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, H.E. Dith Tina, officiated the opening of the “Around the Mekong River” programme today, at the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Centre. The event was part of the Cambodia International Film Festival and began at 9:00 AM.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, this is the second consecutive year H.E. Minister Dith Tina has delivered the keynote address at this programme. The initiative aims to raise public awareness about environmental challenges and the socio-economic conditions of communities living along the Mekong River.

The “Around the Mekong River” programme, which is open to the public free of charge, featured the screening of two documentary films. The first film, produced by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, focused on ongoing conservation efforts to protect the critically endangered Mekong River dolphins. The second documentary, created by a wildlife and conservation organization, highlighted successful conservation efforts for the Siamese crocodile population in Cambodia.
