Phnom Penh: The Minister of Information appreciates the Khmer Writers Association, emphasising Cambodia’s need for qualified writers with innovative ideas to further enhance knowledge in the country. H.E. Neth Pheaktra, who is also an honorary advisor for the Khmer Writers Association, shared the remarks on Jan. 27 when chairing a certificate handover ceremony for 160 writers who had completed their training at the association.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, pieces of writing could be reflections of human society as well as its customs, traditions, geography, and history, instrumental in shaping the knowledge and insight of readers, he said. Writers, added the minister, must comprehend a deep understanding of the national identity so that they pass the pride to the readers.
H.E. Neth Pheaktra thanked the Khmer Writers Association as well as its trainers, who have sacrificed their physical, mental, intellectual, and spiritual strength to transfer their priceless knowledge and experience to new writers.
H.E. Preung Pronit, the president of the association, underlined his team’s commitment to live up to their mission to write, research, compile, and share knowledge to promote high-quality writers of the next generations. To date, the association has trained a total of over 2,500 young writers.
