Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) has predicted that Cambodia’s economy would grow at 6.3 percent in 2025, supported by strong growth in exports of garment, agricultural products and growth in the services sector.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the ministry released its 2025 summary budget report on Feb. 10 at a public forum on macroeconomic management and the 2025 budget law. ‘According to the assessment of the Royal Government of Cambodia’s medium-term public finance framework, the Cambodian economy in 2025 is projected to grow at a rate of 6.3 percent,’ stated the report.
The industrial sector is expected to grow by 8.6 percent, the services sector by 5.6 percent, and the agriculture sector by 1.1 percent, according to the same source. This growth will bring the GDP to 209,163 billion Riel, equivalent to approximately US$51,398 million, while GDP per capita is expected to increase to US$2,924.
The Riel exchange rate is expected to remain at around 4,069 Riel per U.S. dollar in 2025, and the average annual inflation rate is forecast to be around 2.5 percent in 2025. Total international reserves are expected to continue to increase to US$24,423 million, covering 7.5 months of exports, stated the report.
