Laos Prime Minister to Engage in Strategic Talks During Official Visit to Cambodia.


PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic H.E. Dr. Sonexay SIPHANDONE and his spouse Madam Vandala SIPHANDONE, are set to embark on an official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia on December 4-5, 2024. This visit comes at the invitation of Samdech Maha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the couple will have a Royal Audience with His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath NORODOM SIHAMONI, King of Cambodia, at the Royal Palace. The Lao Prime Minister is also scheduled to make separate courtesy calls on Samdech Akka Maha Sena Padei Techo HUN Sen, President of the Senate, and Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei KHUON Sudary, President of the National Assembly.

During the visit, H.E. Dr. Sonexay SIPHANDONE will hold a bilateral meeting with the Cambodian Prime Minister at the Peace Palace. This meeting will focus on enhancing warm relations and expanding beneficial cooperation between the two countries. The dis
cussions will align with the principles of good neighborliness, traditional friendship, and a comprehensive strategic partnership. The two leaders are also expected to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest and oversee the signing of cooperative documents.

H.E. Dr. Sonexay SIPHANDONE’s itinerary also includes laying wreaths at the Independence Monument and the Royal Memorial Statue of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah NORODOM SIHANOUK, “PREAH BOROM RATANAK KAUDH,” the late King-Father of Cambodia.

The MFAIC highlighted that this visit will further strengthen the bonds of traditional friendship and expand cooperation across various sectors between Laos and Cambodia.
