Kratie Provincial Administration Provides Free Medical Checkups and Eyeglasses to Residents

Kratie: The Kratie provincial administration, in collaboration with the Cambodian Health Professionals Association of America (CHPAA), has launched a free medical outreach campaign at the Kratie provincial referral hospital.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the initiative, running from Feb. 10 to 15, aims to provide essential healthcare services to local residents, including general medical checkups, gynecological surgery, eye surgery, dental care, acupuncture, and the distribution of eyeglasses and sunglasses for the elderly.

The campaign was officially inaugurated by Mr. Suos Serey Suorsdey, Deputy Governor of Kratie province, and attended by Dr. Tan Song, Head of the CHPAA medical team, along with 258 medical professionals from CHPAA and local health authorities.

Dr. Tan Song emphasized his deep-rooted commitment to Cambodia, despite residing in the United States. “I still hold a strong connection to my homeland, especially to those struggling with health issues,” he stated.

He called upon donors and Khmer medical professionals in the U.S. to contribute funds, medical supplies, and eyeglasses to support this humanitarian mission, aligning with the policies of the Royal Government of Cambodia’s Seventh Legislature of the National Assembly.

For his part, Deputy Governor Suos Serey Suorsdey expressed gratitude to the CHPAA medical team for their contributions, noting that the campaign significantly alleviates healthcare expenses for local residents.

He reaffirmed that the initiative is entirely non-political and inclusive, focusing solely on improving public health and reducing poverty in rural areas.

“This mission is a vital public health initiative,” he stated, urging for continued support and similar programs in the future to benefit all residents of Kratie province.
