Business operators see a rise in their sales thanks to the increased momentum for the celebration of the four-day Khmer New Year to begin on April 13.
Ms. Men Semly, a seller at O’ Russey Market in Phnom Penh, said that her shop experienced the best sales compared with last year.
‘People come to buy things to prepare for the Khmer New Year. It is a positive trend for businesses. I expect to see higher sales as the holiday is nearing,’ she said.
An owner of a decoration shop along Kampuchea Krom Boulevard, Ms. Sok Sophea, said the new year attracts a large influx of people and tourists across the country, opening an opportunity for good sales.
Stalls along roads at tourist sites display a range of products, such as drinks, snacks, and local handcrafts and beyond.
Many of the key tourist destinations also feature Khmer dishes, local product fairs, art performances, concerts, and folk games to attract visitors.
