Information technology and artificial intelligence (AI) play an increasingly important role in various aspects of life, including education, says Raja Muda of Kedah Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Sultan Sallehuddin.
He said that the use of AI in education could help enrich learning experiences and enhance the effectiveness of teaching.
‘For instance, AI can be used to create learning materials tailored to the needs and abilities of each student. ‘In addition, AI can also provide immediate feedback to students, helping them better understand difficult concepts,’ he said during the proclamation ceremony of SMK Taman Jelutong as SMK Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah and Excellence Awards 2024 here today.
Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah said, however, that the use of AI in education also presented its own challenges and must be used wisely to ensure that academic works genuinely reflected students’ abilities and understanding.
He also emphasised that in a rapidly developing world, society, especially students, must be cauti
ous and responsible, including in their use of the internet.
‘The internet is a vast space, and not all information we find is accurate. Students must be discerning in evaluating sources and ensure that we only use authentic and high-quality materials.
‘In addition, social media should be used responsibly. When leaving comments or opinions on social media, use polite language as our words reflect our character,’ he said.
The ceremony today was also attended by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
