DAVAO CITY: The 39th Kadayawan Festival will open here on Friday at the Kadayawan Village at the Magsaysay Park.
‘We are all set (for the Kadayawan Festival),’ City Tourism and Operations Office head Jennifer Romero said in an interview Wednesday.
Romero said the renovation of the Kadayawan Tribal Village, one of the event’s highlights, has also been completed.
The tribal village was built to showcase the rich culture and heritage of the city’s 11 tribes.
The houses which represent each city tribe will give visitors a glimpse of the tribes’ way of life, Romero said, adding that the exhibit allows people to experience each of the tribe’s unique cultures and traditions, fulfilling their curiosity about tribal music, dances, craftsmanship, and artistry.
Apart from the tribal village, this year’s Kadayawan will also highlight the Pananam sa Kadayawan Food and Products Fair launch, a new festival activity showcasing the delicacies and products of the city’s 11 ethnolinguistic tribes.
‘We wanted to highlight
the mouthwatering food and products crafted by the 11 tribes through the Pananam, which will run from August 9 to 18″ at the Magsaysay Park, Romero said.
