Within the framework of “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” Japan will continue to strengthen and broaden cooperation with Cambodia, including in the areas of defence and security.
The commitment was emphasised by visiting H.E. Kihara Minoru, Minister of Defence of Japan, while paying a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this afternoon.
The Japanese defence minister also briefed the Cambodian Premier on the results of the fruitful cooperation between the Ministries of National Defence of Japan and Cambodia.
In reply, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet thanked the Government and people of Japan for their support to Cambodia in the process of peace seeking and socio-economic development. He further spoke highly of the defence cooperation between the two countries.
The Prime Minister and H.E. Kihara Minoru also discussed the continued strengthening and expansion of defence cooperation between the two countries within the framework of
the Army, the Navy and the Air Force.
The cooperation will focus on visit exchange, training, humanitarian demining, joint exercises on disaster relief, and so on.
