Iranian Ambassador Engages in Diplomatic Talks with Cambodian Foreign Minister


Phnom Penh: Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn received a courtesy call from H.E. Ali Akbar Nazari, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Cambodia. During their meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the significance of maintaining friendly relations and fostering good cooperation between Cambodia and Iran.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Hanoi-based ambassador reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and reminisced about the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Cambodia-Iran Diplomatic Relations in 2022. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation highlighted these discussions in a news release.



Both parties explored ways to strengthen economic ties by cooperating in sectors such as trade, investment, health, and energy. They expressed satisfaction with the progress made in finalizing crucial agreements, including the Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investments, the establishment of a Joint Economic Commission, and the Memorandum of Understanding on Petroleum Cooperation.



H.E. Prak Sokhonn and H.E. Ambassador Nazari also discussed regional and international cooperation, specifically within the framework of the ASEAN-Economic Cooperation Organisation, as concluded in the release.
