Investing in Women’s Entrepreneurship, an Effective Way to Promote Gender Equality and Poverty Alleviation


Investing in women’s entrepreneurship, strengthening economic empowerment and cooperation and public-sector partnerships are important efforts that act as an effective way to promote gender equality and poverty reduction as key catalysts for stability and sustainable development.

The remarks were made by H.E. Ms. Kry Nallis, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, while presiding over the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Network (AWEN) Board Meeting organised on Aug. 2 to review the network’s work progress and future plans.

Moreover, she continued, it is imperative for us to expand our network and create broader opportunities within the market. Finding additional avenues to support one another will result in accelerated growth, increased resilience, and improved coherence within our nation and the broader region.

‘It remains crucial for us to direct our attention to market diversification, access to resources and technology, enhanced competitiveness, foreign investment, kn
owledge transfer, and the enhancement of supply chain integration, all of which are pivotal for ensuring stability, inclusive growth, and sustainable development, thereby yielding considerable dividends for peace and prosperity within our ASEAN community,’ added H.E. Ms. Kry Nallis.

H.E. Secretary of State expressed her sincere appreciation and congratulations to the Cambodian Women Entrepreneurs Network (CamWEN) and the AWEN for their great efforts in successfully organising the Pinnacle Entrepreneur Forum and AWEN Award 2024.

In his keynote address at the opening ceremony of the Pinnacle Entrepreneur Forum and the 2024 AWEN Award, held at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra on Aug. 1, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Techo Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, re-emphaised the Royal Government of Cambodia’s commitment to intensify its efforts to empower women through strategic investment in education and financial inclusion.

s, the Premier said, stressing that the Kingdom stands as a shining example of gender equality, a beacon of hope for the entire ASEAN community.
