Inter-Parliamentary Union Recognizes Cambodia’s Peacekeeping Efforts.


Phnom Penh: The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) has expressed its admiration for Cambodia’s contributions to peacekeeping both regionally and globally. The IPU has encouraged further cooperation between Cambodia and the union to enhance peacebuilding initiatives.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, IPU Secretary General Mr. Martin Chungong conveyed this admiration during a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. The bilateral meeting took place in Siem Reap province on November 25, coinciding with the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit for a Mine-Free World.

The IPU Secretary General expressed hope that Cambodia would continue to share its extensive experience in tolerance and peacebuilding with other countries around the world. He also noted the rapid progress in Cambodia’s parliamentary functions and expressed a desire to strengthen the relationship between the IPU and Cambodia’s parliamentary body.

In response, Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his gratitud
e for the IPU’s recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the cooperation between Cambodia’s parliament and the IPU.
