Preah Vihear: A delegation from India’s Ministry of External Affairs visited Preah Vihear Temple on Mar. 9, to assess the progress of ongoing conservation and restoration efforts at the historic site.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Preah Vihear Temple conservation project has achieved several milestones, including the completion of site preparations, the installation of cranes, the construction of a bypass road around the work area, and studies on the site’s water systems, geology, and environment.
Plans to restore the northern staircase at the first level, adjacent to the Naga Bridge, have also been developed. The delegation praised the collaborative achievements and encouraged continued cooperation moving forward.
This conservation and restoration initiative is a joint effort between the governments of India and Cambodia, formalised through a memorandum signed in 2018.
