Siem Reap: Senior delegates of the Internationale démocrate centriste-Centrist Democrat International (IDC-CDI) have lauded peace, national unity and development of Cambodia, during their separate courtesy calls on Cambodian Prime Minister in Siem Reap province this afternoon, on the sidelines of the IDC-CDI Executive Committee Meeting.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. André Pastrana Arango, President of IDC-CDI, and H.E. Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, also commended the smooth organisation of the IDC-CDI Executive Committee Meeting by Cambodia. All participating delegates expressed interest in learning from Cambodia’s achievements in peace-building. H.E. André Pastrana Arango, also former President of Colombia, conveyed gratitude to the Kingdom for its support in mine clearance operations in Colombia.
In response, Samdech Thipadei expressed appreciation for IDC-CDI’s involvement in election observation in Cambodia, emphasizing the import
ance of the meeting as a platform for building connections and addressing global challenges. He noted that the IDC-CDI Executive Committee Meeting occurs amidst numerous world challenges, offering a vital opportunity for collaboration and problem-solving.
Philippine House Speaker H.E. Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez voiced satisfaction regarding the progress of Philippine-Cambodian relations and thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for its hospitality towards Filipinos residing and visiting the country. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet acknowledged the potential for further cooperation and confirmed his plans to visit the Philippines in early 2025, following an invitation from H.E. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., President of the Philippines, to enhance bilateral relations.
Discussions between the two sides also included promoting cooperation in areas such as agriculture, food security, tourism, and the possibility of additional direct flight connections. They addressed people-to-people relations, health, defence and sec
urity, and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
