Huawei Interested in Promoting Industrial Digitalisation in Cambodia

Huawei is seeking collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI) to propel industrial digitalisation in Cambodia.

The company’s interest in expanding its role in Cambodia’s industrial digitalisation was discussed in a meeting here on Aug. 30 between H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of MISTI and Mr. Zhang Zhenjun, Vice President of Huawei Asia Pacific.

On the occasion, the Huawei delegation introduced its new leadership team for Cambodia and provided an overview of the company’s operations.

Mr. Zhang Zhenjun said Huawei is interested in collaborating with MISTI on industrial digitalisation and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises through its public cloud services. Huawei’s talent development programmes, he said, have trained more than 3,000 Cambodian students and professionals, aiming to boost local capacity in app development and digital skills.

According to MISTI, Huawei has been operating in Cambodia since 1999, offering a diverse range of products such as w
ireless networks, public cloud services, solar energy solutions, smart devices, and enterprise solutions.

The company has a global workforce of about 270,000, with 110,000 employees dedicated to research and development, reflecting its commitment to innovation and technological transformation. It reported strong performance in the first half of 2024, generating revenue of US$58.6 billion, with a year-on-year increase of 34.3 percent and a net profit of US$7.7 billion.

H.E. HEM Vanndy commended Huawei for its contributions to Cambodia’s technological advancement and its strong commitment to research and development. He encouraged the company to collaborate with Khmer Enterprise to support SMEs in fostering entrepreneurship, embracing technology, and enhancing their competitiveness.

H.E. Minister also urged Huawei to make its services more affordable for a broader range of private sector actors, aiming to assist local SMEs in keeping up with global trends and promote industrialisation.
