His Majesty the King Urges for More Active Participation in Maintaining Clean and Green Environment


His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, has called on his compatriots to join with a sense of high responsibility in maintaining a clean and green environment, clean city, clean resort, good service, good hospitality to make the Kingdom of Cambodia a high quality and attractive tourist destination for national and international tourists.

The monarch made the appeal while holding a get-together and distributing donations to more than 2,000 trash collectors from across Phnom Penh capital city to mark the National Clean City Day, at Koh Norea in Khan Chbar Ampov here this morning.

His Majesty the King praised the Royal Government for its efforts in ensuring peace and development, both in the urban and rural areas, and the Phnom Penh municipal authorities for its commitment in enhancing the capital’s beauty and improving the people’s living standard.

The monarch also thanked the trash collectors who have dedicated their physical and mental energy to make Phnom Penh a
clean, hygienic and beautiful city.

According to H.E. Khuong Sreng, Phnom Penh Municipal Governor, an average of 3,700 tonnes of garbage and solid waste are collected daily in Phnom Penh.
