His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, this morning called on all stakeholders to continue paying high attention to replanting trees and preserving the forests.
Addressing the celebration of annual Arbour Day in Takeo, a southern province of Cambodia, the monarch said the Arbour Day is a great event in which all levels of authorities participate under the common vision of green environment.
His Majesty the King added that growing trees and protecting the forests mean helping ourselves in daily lives and prevent the natural disasters, providing hope for our future generations.
‘Thank you all for the contributions to the protection of forests and wildlife for the benefit of the whole world and our people,’ he underlined.
At the same time, H.E. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said since 1992, there have been a total of 475 hectares of ‘Arbour Gardens’ in 14 provinces/capital. Through this annual celebration, trees have been replanted on
some 80,000 hectares in many public and private parks, he pointed out.
The event, held at Banteay Angkor Forest Promotion and Restoration Station in Khna village, Leaybo commune, Tramkak district, Takeo province, was also attended by Cambodian leaders, including Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, National Assembly President Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipdaei Hun Manet, and so on.
Takeo province has so far hosted this celebration four times.
