H.E. Hun Many, President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, and Representative of the 12th ASEAN Para Games Organising Committee, has encouraged everyone to see persons with disabilities beyond their physiques, understand their heart and passion, and their spirits.
H.E. Hun Many shared his inspiration at the Official Opening Ceremony of the 12th ASEAN Para Games under the motto of “Sport: Live in Peace”, at Morodok Techo Hun Sen National Stadium in Khan Chroy Changvar, Phnom Penh, this evening.
In the name of all Cambodian youths, H.E. Hun Many attributed the historic and solemn organisation of the 12th ASEAN Para Games to the current full peace, stability, optimistic unity for the socio-economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic to achieve the country’s ambition of becoming an upper middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income economy by 2050.
On the occasion, H.E. Hun Many recalled Cambodia’s history from civil war to today’s progress and development with current full peace, thanks to struggles and countless efforts with national unity under the cool shade of His Majesty the King Norodom Sihamoni and under the wise leadership of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom Cambodia, with full support from all fellow citizens.
He further credited the national advancement at present to devotion, considerate, high responsibility and endless efforts of previous generations.
A total of 1,453 para athletes from ASEAN member countries and Timor-Leste are competing in 14 sports, namely para athletics, para swimming, wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, para table tennis, para badminton, 5-a-side football, 7-a-side football, para goalball, para powerlifting, para judo, boccia, chess, and E-sports (demonstration).
