Gold Medalist Khou Kheanghuy Proud of Enhancing National Prestige


National flag was hoisted reflecting the national prestige after Cambodian athlete Khou Kheanghuy grabbed a gold medal in Men’s Sport Physique over 180cm from the 56th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship 2024, held from Aug. 16 to 12 in Indonesia.

‘For me, I have never won a gold medal like this before, when I heard [the national anthem] and seen the Cambodian flag saluted at the medal conferment ceremony, I felt very excited,’ the gold medalist Mr. Khou Kheanghuy told reporters upon his arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport on Aug. 13.

The national athlete is committed to continuing to train hard to qualify for the 15th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships in Maldives in November 2024. “I will continue to do my best and wish to win another gold medal for the nation,” he said.

Mr. Tek Bunvy, President of the Cambodian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (CBFF) and an international judge, expressed his joy with the Cambodian athlete’s achievement and thanked the Royal
Government, particularly the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for their support to all sports, including bodybuilding.

The Cambodian bodybuilding delegation was composed of three members – Mr. Tek Bunvy as head of the delegation and judge, coach Mrs. Emy Saryrom, and athlete Khu Kheanghuy. Another athlete, Mr. Srin Reach, withdrew from the tournament due to health problem.
