France Supports Establishment of Regional Cultural Centre in Cambodia

France has voiced its support to Cambodia’s initiative to create a regional cultural centre in the Kingdom for French language training and promotion of French culture in Asia, as Cambodia has a long history of relations with France and is still an active country with many French-speaking people.

The support was announced by H.E. Ms. Yael Braun-Pivet, President of the National Assembly (NA) of the French Republic, during a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet in Paris on Jan. 18.

The French NA president spoke highly of Samdech Thipadei’s decision to choose France as the first European country for his official visit as the Head of the Royal Government of Cambodia, while France and Cambodia have been enjoying good cooperation in all fields.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his satisfaction with the remarkable progress of relations between the two countries at all levels, especially between their executive and legislative bodies, as well as their clos
e cooperation in the areas of education, culture, language and economy.

The Cambodian Premier added that promoting investment and trade ties is also an important agenda of his official visit in addition to political and diplomatic affairs. He hoped that large French companies will continue to expand their investment in Cambodia while new French investors are welcomed to explore investment potential in the Kingdom.

Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and First Lady Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony have been on a two-day official visit in France since Jan. 18.
