Former Cambodian Premier Asks Japan to Continue Supporting Cambodia’s Demining Efforts


Former Prime Minister of Cambodian, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen continued to call on Japan to further support the demining activities in Cambodia.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen, current President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, made the call yesterday in Tokyo, Japan while meeting with H.E Imamura Masahiro, President of the Japan-Cambodia Parliamentary Alliance.

In the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked Japan’s for its support to Cambodia’s mine clearance efforts and encouraged the Japanese side to continue to assist Cambodia in the field, especially to contribute to successfully achieving the goal of “Mine-free Cambodia in 2025′.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen extended his condolences to the Japanese government and people on the recent earthquake in Ishizawa prefecture and the plane collision at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.

For his part, H.E. Imamura Masahiro reaffirmed the commitment of the Japan-Cambodia Parliamentary Alliance to maintain good relations with the new Royal Government
of Cambodia, led by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, and to continue to work closely with the Cambodian legislative bodies.

H.E. Imamura Masahiro also spoke highly of Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s important role in demining work in Cambodia and supported the participation of the Japan-Cambodia Parliamentary Alliance in this noble mission.

On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the key role and contribution of the Japan-Cambodia Parliamentary Alliance in deepening the bilateral relations as well as the close cooperation between the two countries on the international arena.
