Foreign athletes to enliven Indonesian Table Tennis League Series II

Serang, Banten (ANTARA) – Some athletes from China, Japan, India, Luxembourg, Singapore, and Malaysia, will compete in the Indonesian Table Tennis League Series II in Tangerang, Banten, on July 1-4, with a total prize of Rp2.5 billion (US$166 thousand).”Series 2 will be more exciting because it is attended by players from countries that are the mainstays of table tennis, namely China and Japan,” Chairman of the Indonesian Table Tennis League Singgih Yeheskiel said here on Sunday. Table tennis athletes, both from overseas and in Indonesia, will show their abilities at the tournament that will be held at GOR Gondrong sports complex in Cipondoh, Tangerang. The Indonesian Table Tennis League is scheduled to have eight series. Yeheskiel said the long series aims to advance the sport of table tennis in the country. Meanwhile, chair of the tournament organizing committee Jopie Warsono said in addition to 100 local athletes, there will be 15 players from abroad that will participate in the competition. “There are eight men’s clubs and six women’s clubs that will compete. Most clubs, both men’s and women’s, will be strengthened by foreign players,” the former national athlete said.
