Dubai: Emirates announced on Mar. 3 that it will introduce a new flight route between Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, and Siem Reap province of Cambodia, in a move expected to enhance both tourism and trade between the two nations. The airline will start three weekly flights-Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays-from Dubai to Siem Reap province via Bangkok, Thailand, beginning June 3 this year.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Emirates’ service to Siem Reap is optimally timed to offer leisure travelers connectivity via multiple daily operations from France, UK, Spain, Germany, Portugal, and Russia. Emirates already operates daily return flights from Dubai to the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh, via Singapore.
Cambodia’s three international airports handled a combined 5.65 million air passengers in 2024, marking an increase of 39.8 percent from 4.04 million a year before, as reported by the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation. More than 30 international and domestic airlines currently connect Cambodia directly to countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), China, South Korea, India, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), among others.
