Jakarta (ANTARA) – Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas has invited people to use Eid al-Adha as an opportunity to increase their solidarity.”Let’s increase humanitarian solidarity on this Eid al-Adha,” he said here on Thursday. Qoumas asked citizens to increase their generosity on Eid al-Adha. He said that people need to emulate Prophet Ibrahim as a figure who placed a high value on humanity and generosity. “He had very good social sensitivity,” he added. Prophet Ibrahim had a lot of wealth, including livestock, he noted. However, the wealth did not make Prophet Ibrahim irresponsible, instead, he shared what he had without hesitation, especially with the ones who came to him, he added. “This is the attitude of Prophet Ibrahim to humanize others,” he said, adding that the Prophet is known as Abu Ad-Duyuf or the “father of the guests.” “We need to emulate Ibrahim’s humanity and generosity on the momentum of Eid al-Adha,” Qoumas said. Earlier, the Religious Affairs Ministry handed over a sacrificial cow from the minister to Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta. The cow belonged to the Simmental breed and weighed 800 kilograms. It was handed over by the ministry’s director general of Islamic community guidance, Kamaruddin Amin, to the acting officer of Istiqlal Mosque Management Agency (BPMI), Asep Saepudin, at the mosque’s slaughterhouse in Jakarta. “We hope that this sacrificial cow will be taken care of until the day of slaughter,” Amin said on Tuesday (June 27). Minister Qoumas welcomed collaboration between parties in the implementation of sacrifices on Eid al-Adha 1444 H, saying it was a tangible form of brotherhood to realize virtue. “Let’s make this year’s worship of sacrificing animals a motivation to fill development with collaboration, as the challenges ahead will be more complex and vary,” he said.
