ECCC to Host Photo Exhibition Highlighting Civil Parties’ Experiences

Phnom Penh: The Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) will launch a photo exhibition titled “Lessons from the Past Civil Parties'” tomorrow at 3:30 pm. The event will take place at the ECCC Resource Centre, located on the west wall of the Friendship Building at the Office of the Council of Ministers.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, this exhibition is part of the reparation projects, “the Brave Turtle” and “Community Media Project about the Cham People during the Khmer Rouge Regime.” The project was officially recognised by the ECCC Trial Chamber in Case 002/02 and has been fully implemented by the Cambodian German Cultural Association.

The event will be attended by 70 participants, including national and international delegates, civil parties, youth, and representatives from civil society organisations.

The exhibition is more than just a collection of images; it is a testament to the perseverance, courage, and resilience of those who survived one of the painful chapters in Cambodian history. These images do not merely depict the past; they offer invaluable lessons, particularly for the younger generation, helping them understand the experiences of civil parties during the Khmer Rouge regime.

The exhibition serves as a reminder to ensure that such history is never repeated.
