DPM SUN Chanthol Receives Newly Appointed Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia

H.E. SUN Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), received a courtesy call from H.E. Wang Wenbin, newly nominated Ambassador of China to Cambodia, at the CDC's headquarters in Phnom Penh on July 24. The purpose of the meeting was to further strengthen bilateral diplomatic relations and cooperation between Cambodia and China, as well as to discuss investment affairs and other physical infrastructure development in Cambodia. On the occasion, H.E. SUN Chantol expressed warm welcome to H.E. Wang Wenbin's diplomatic mission in Cambodia, and his appreciation for the support of the Government and people of China for the Kingdom's socio-economic development in the framework of Diamond Cooperation. While presiding over a ceremony to unveil the Sign Post of 'Xi Jinping Boulevard' on July 19, H.E. SUN Chanthol said that in the first half of this year, China has invested some US$1.3 billion in Cambodia, accounted for 42 percent of the total investme nt capital and was ranked second in the country. At the same time, he continued, China was ranked first for providing Cambodia with concessional loans and grant aids with a total of over US$3 billion for the construction of roads with a total length of 4,000 kilometres, 16 major bridges with a total length of 14,000 metres, and many other physical infrastructures.
