DPM SUN Chanthol Holds Talk with Atlantic Council Delegation in Washington D.C.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. SUN Chanthol held talks early this week with a delegation of the Atlantic Council of the United States, led by its President and CEO Mr. Frederick Kempe to discuss and exchange views about additional investment opportunities and potential in Cambodia.

According to the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), H.E. SUN Chanthol, also First Vice President of CDC, highlighted the bilateral relations and cooperation between Cambodia and the U.S., adding that the latter has remained Cambodia’s largest export market.

The CDC first vice president also briefed the U.S. side about the growth of private investment in the 7th-mandate Royal Government, and Cambodia’s favourable investment environment such as target investment hub in the ASEAN region, interconnected physical infrastructure, young and dynamic labour forces, competitive markets, FTAs and RCEP, plus the CDC’s readiness to facilitate all investments in Cambodia with its CDC Investment Project Management, so called
cdcIPM, a technology system that allows all investors to register their investment applications everywhere in an easier and time saving manner, as well as the Cambodia-U.S. Public-Private Sector Dialogue.

For his part, Mr. Frederick Kempe, accompanied by Mr. Jim Jones, CEO of Jones Group International (JGI); H.E. William Heidt and H.E. Patrick Murphy, former U.S. Ambassadors to Cambodia; and many other key American investors, praised H.E. SUN Chanthol for his ‘knock-on-door’ mission in America, and agreed to further promote Cambodia’s investment potential, particularly in the areas of technology, telecommunications, and food.

In the afternoon of the same day, H.E. SUN Chanthol also met with H.E. Ted Osius, President and CEO of U.S.-ASEAN Business Council (U.S.-ABC), and an American delegation from five private companies to find ways to further promote and expand investment in Cambodia.
