A Cambodia high-ranking official is highly optimistic that more Japanese investment companies will target Cambodia as their investment hub.
H.E. SUN Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), made the note in Pursat province this morning while he was presiding over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the second factory of MinebeaMistumi in Pursat Special Economic Zone (SEZ), with participation of H.E. KEO Rottanak, Minister and Mines and Energy, Mr. Oshihisa Kainuma, Chairman/CEO of MinebeaMitsumi, and representative of the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia.
On the occasion, H.E. SUN Chanthol congratulated MinebeaMitsumi for its continued success in doing business in Cambodia in the last 14 years, leading to the construction of the second factory, and was also positive that MinebeaMitsumi would help promote and attract more Japanese companies to come to invest in Cambodia.
Moreover, H.E. SUN Chantol informed the event about the CDC
‘s key role in facilitating all investments in Cambodia, and its Investment Project Management, so called ‘CDCIPM’, a technology system that allows investors to apply for investment project registration from everywhere in an easier and faster manner and with increasing trust.
After the event, the CDC first vice president also gave a press conference to local and Japanese reporters about Cambodia’s favourable business environment and the CDC’s ‘knock-on-door’ overseas mission to additionally attract more investors to Cambodia.
During the first year of the 7th-mandate Royal Government, from Sept. 2023 to Aug. 2024, the CDC endorsed a total of 391 investment projects both inside and outside SEZs with a total investment capital of some US$7.5 billion, creating about 341,000 job opportunities for the locals, up 75 percent and 161 percent in terms of investment projects and investment capital, respectively, compared the last 12 months of the 6th-mandate Royal Government.
