Don’t Make Any Wrong Conclusions about Recent Legal Action, PM Says

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet this morning rejected any wrong conclusions made by some activists over the legal action taken by the Royal Government against the Aug. 18 event.

Addressing the graduation ceremony of lawyer students of the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Phnom Penh, the Premier urged not to make any wrong conclusions about the legal action against the planned mass protest on Aug. 18, 2024, stressing that this was the action to ensure peace and stability.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet reiterated that the Royal Government has legal obligation to protect the constitution and guarantee peace.

According to Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister, on Aug. 18, 2024, authorities at all levels arrested a total of 66 people. 57 of them have been released later, but legal procedures have continued for nine others.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet took the opportunity to reaffirm the Royal Government’s continued commitment to defending the country’s sovereignty and boosti
ng the national development, especially along the border.
