Doi Tam Drums Echo Over Thousand Years.


Located in duy tien district:ocated in Duy Tien district, the northern province of Ha Nam, the Doi Tam village is renowned for its drum making craft that has been passed for more than a thousand years. The village is one among a few places in the country when the best drums are made. D?i Tam produces many types of drums, including those for rituals or sacrifice rites and those used at community festivals, in sizes ranging from 20cm to 2m in diameter. The largest drum in the country made by the village craftsmen is more than 2m in diameter, 2.65m in height, now is displayed at the Temple of Literature in Hanoi.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the village’s craftsmanship is not only a cultural heritage but also an economic backbone for the community. The artisans have been able to sustain their livelihood through this ancient craft, contributing to the preservation of traditional Vietnamese culture.
