A documentary movie titled “Revival of Kun Bokator” has been officially launched and screened throughout Cambodia’s cinemas from May 25 onward.
The launching ceremony took place at Legend Cinema of Olympia Mall here in Phnom Penh on May 25 under the presidency of H.E. Mrs. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts.
“Revival of Kun Bokator” is movie based on true story of great victory, loss, survival, reclaiming of Khmer cultural identity and building of alliance from generation to generation, according to the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts.
It also describes the struggling life of Master San Kimsean nicknamed as “Golden Krama (Golden Scarf) Grandfather” who survived the Khmer Rouge regime and helped revive “Kun Bokator”, the Khmer martial art and preserve it for Cambodia’s next generations.
Master San Kimsean and other Masters who survived the Khmer Rouge regime have been working hard in promoting Kun Bokator as a symbol of the Khmer national pride and strength.
Produced by Techah Film Production in collaboration with Kong Chak Picture and Cineboxx Film Productions from Canada, the shooting of movie took more than 5 years.
