Directive to Ensure Safety and Order during New Year Celebrations


The Phnom Penh municipal administration has issued a directive urging respect for traffic laws among travellers for the coming Khmer New Year celebrations.

The directive circulated recently also bans spraying water, throwing water bags, smearing passersby with powder, and other anarchic and risky practices.

Phnom Penh municipal administration will organise a new year celebration, called Sankranta, at the Wat Phnom historical and cultural site from April 13 to 16.

Interesting programmes of Wat Phnom Sankranta will include New Tevoda welcome ceremony, Buddha statue procession, sand mountain building, Buddha statue bathing ceremony, ancient painting and cultural artifact exhibition, art performances, concerts, and folk games.

This year, Cambodia will celebrate the Traditional New Year from April 13 to 16.
