Development of Khnong Phsar Mountain as Model Green Leisure Destination Expedited

Kampong Speu: Minister of Environment has convened a meeting to discuss the rollout of a sustainable tourism infrastructure development plan for Khnong Phsar Mountain in Kampong Speu province, which has gained noticeable traction as a camping site.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, in a recent meeting at the ministry, H.E. Eang Sophalleth held the discussion with the relevant development team, comprising representatives from the Ministry of Rural Development and the World Bank. Developed under the Cambodia Sustainable Landscape and Ecotourism Project (CSLEP), the tourism infrastructure will begin with the rehabilitation of the road leading to the mountain top, making it climate-friendly and resilient.

The development plan will also include the construction of parking lots, restrooms, shower areas, information and first aid centres, cafeterias, camping sites, and beyond, while introducing reforestation to further beautify the natural beauty of the area. The meeting also focused on the engagement of the local community in a way that will sustain the operation of the tourist site and promote livelihood options for a better local economy.

The development plan to make Khnong Phsar Mountain a model green leisure destination was initiated by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet following his site visit to the area and talking with the locals.
