Demining Training Course for Ukrainian Experts Wrapped Up


The two-week-long training course on Demining Machines in Humanitarian Demining Operations for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) came to an end on Aug. 20 in Siem Reap province.

H.E. Heng Ratana, Director General of Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC), and Ms. Erik Komukai, Senior Advisor to Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Tokyo presided over the closing ceremony.

This basic training on Demining Machines in Humanitarian Demining Operations was conducted by CMAC for 14 Ukrainian experts with support from the Government of Japan through JICA.

The goal of this training is to build the professional capacity of Ukrainian humanitarian demining experts in the fields of mechanical demining operations to increase safety, efficiency, and effectiveness in clearing landmine/UXO-contaminated areas, H.E. Heng Ratana pointed out.

“It’s vital to note that this training course can be delivered based on the cooperation on humanitarian efforts between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Gover
nment of Japan,” underlined the CMAC director general. “This is purely humanitarian commitment to help Ukrainian people affected by landmines and the remnants of war.”
