Phnom Penh: In celebration of the upcoming Khmer New Year and under the collaboration between the Cambodia-China Journalists Association, the Cambodia-China Digital Youth Association, China Jun Guzheng Cultural Studio, and the Secondary School of Fine Arts, the China Foundation for Peace and Development hosted a significant cultural exchange event titled ‘Heart to Heart Along the Silk Road’.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, this event, held on the afternoon of April 6, on the 47th floor of the Morgan Tower at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre, Phnom Penh, brought a spectacular cross-border musical showcase to life, drawing an audience of approximately 500 attendees. It highlighted the deep charm of traditional music from both Cambodia and China, promoted through local media channels and social platforms of the two nations, further strengthening the cultural exchange ties between Cambodia and China.
Under the theme ‘Traditional Khmer Music, New Sounds Along the Silk Road,’ the concert introduced the rich musical heritage of both countries.
The highlight of the event came when musicians from both countries performed a joint piece titled ‘Music from the Heavenly Palace,’ blending Khmer and Chinese instruments in a harmonious composition that captivated the audience. The performance received extended, enthusiastic applause from all attendees, reflecting the emotional and cultural impact of the collaboration.
Mr. Soy Sopheap, President of the Cambodia-China Journalists Association, delivered remarks during the event, noting that the concert allowed everyone to experience the vitality of traditional arts. He emphasised that the event was not only an impressive cultural exchange but also a powerful testament to the strong friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and China. He expressed hope that more people, especially the youth, would continue to appreciate and contribute to the preservation and innovation of musical heritage.
The success of the concert was made possible through the strong support of individuals, enterprises, and civil society organisations from both countries.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including H.E. Lim Lokpiseth, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce; H.E. Thien Vandarong, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts; Neak Oknha Sam Ang, Chairman of the Board of Vattanac Bank; and representatives from Civil Society Alliance Forum, Cambodia-China Journalists Association, Cambodia Securities Exchange, China Foundation for Peace and Development, and several companies such as Huawei, Wownow, U-Mall, Lukfook Jewellery, Cambodia Airlines, and more.
