CRF, Otis McAllister Reach MoU on Cambodian Rice Purchase

Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF) and California-based Otis McAllister Inc., specialising in food industry, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Purchase and Sale of Cambodian Rice and Grain for Five Years.

The MoU was signed by Oknha Song Saran, Chairman of CRF’s Board Directors, and Mr. Patrick Murphy, Executive Vice President of Rice and Grains/Global Sourcing at Otis McAllister Inc. in San Francisco, California on Sept. 22.

The signing ceremony took place under the witness of H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister, First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), who has been on a knock-on-door mission to attract U.S. and Canadian investment from Sept. 22 to Oct. 3.

The signed MoU is the basis for future cooperation to strengthen business cooperation and further enhance the quantity of Cambodian rice in the U.S. market, the CDC pointed out.

Under the MoU, it continued, CRF will provide high quality milled rice such as Phka Malis (jasmine rice), Sen Kro
Ob (aka SKO) and SRO and some other varieties of milled rice with competitive prices and guaranteed timely delivery.

Following the MoU signing, the presence of milled rice under the “Made in Cambodia” brand is expected to increase in the U.S. market, especially in the hypermarkets such as Costco and Walmart.
