H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, received here on Sept. 4 a delegation from China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) led by General Manager Mr. Yang Jie to discuss the company’s interest in engaging and investing in Cambodia’s water supply sector.
In the meeting, H.E. Minister commended CRBC for its contributions to Cambodia’s infrastructure, particularly its role in major projects such as the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressways. He provided an overview of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI)’s portfolio, emphasising Cambodia’s water supply sector, which comprises 11 state-owned authorities and over 400 private water operators.
H.E. Hem Vanndy also outlined the government’s ongoing efforts to restructure the sector, aiming to promote the state’s strategic role, while strengthening private sector participation. He encouraged CRBC to participate in bidding for on-going water supply projects and to consider str
ategies such as consolidating smaller operators for greater economies of scale or investing in treatment facilities to supply bulk piped water to state-owned utilities at a competitive rate.
CRBC boasts a global presence with 66 overseas branches and 391 on-going projects, with a total contract sum of US$19.2 billion in 2023. Additionally, the company’s representative highlighted CRBC’s expertise in water supply infrastructure, pointing to successful projects in urban areas across various countries.
