Phnom Penh has kick-started the construction of its first underground carpark and commercial centre in Khan Daun Penh.

Governor of Phnom Penh H.E. Khuong Sreng on July 3 presided over the official ground-breaking of the facility of 33,120 square metres, invested by a local firm EDISIJUTA (Cambodia) Pte. Ltd.

According to Ms. Oknha Chan Sothea, Director General of EDISIJUTA (Cambodia) Pte. Ltd., two storeys of the facility will be dedicated for parking lots that can accommodate 516 cars.

Another two storeys will be used for commercial centre comprising shopping malls, resorts and other luxury services.

H.E. Khuong Sreng noted that Khan Daun Penh has now become a busy intersection and a large commercial residential area.

The investment proves as an essential contribution of the private sector to not only further modernise Phnom Penh’s lifestyle, but also address the emerging carparking issue in the fast-growing capital of Cambodia, he added.
