Siem Reap: The Government of Cambodia is gathering inputs from relevant communities in Siem Reap to develop a ‘White Book of Angkor’, which is a guideline for a participatory approach to preserve and manage land use at the Angkor world heritage site. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction H.E. Say Samal, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, and Siem Reap Provincial Governor H.E. Prak Sophoan co-led the consultation in the province on Feb. 21.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, they took stock of all inputs from representatives and local authorities from 114 villages who joined the discussion, particularly in locating conservation areas, resorts, shopping sites, and beyond. The chairs deeply appreciated the inputs and considered them as valuable bases to prepare the land use regulation and guideline.
It was expected that the consultative approach will result in a White Book of Angkor that promotes community participation and engageme
nt of other players in preserving and developing the heritage site for the benefit of all.
