Kampot: Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet announced this morning that the Royal Government of Cambodia will no longer allow civil servants to manage the day-to-day operations of state-owned public enterprises. While presiding over the inauguration ceremony of the Kampot International Tourism Port in Teuk Chhou district, Kampot province, the Prime Minister clarified that while civil servants may continue to serve as members of the board of directors, the operational management of state-owned enterprises will be entrusted to professional Chief Executive Officers (CEOs).
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Prime Minister stated, “I have already made the decision to amend the statutes and sub-decree governing state-owned public enterprises, paving the way for them to hire CEOs to manage their operations. The Royal Government can recruit qualified candidates from the private sector to take on these roles and operate the enterprises with a business-oriented mindset,” he said.
The Premier explained that under the leadership of experienced CEOs, state-owned public enterprises will be able to function independently and efficiently, adopting private sector practices to achieve greater success for the nation and the Cambodian people.
