Phnom Penh: President of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Xi Jinping, reaffirmed his commitment to further promote friendship and share the future together with Cambodia, as expressed in a message released this morning.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Xi Jinping conveyed his pleasure in visiting Cambodia during the Khmer New Year, likening the visit to returning to “the home of a good friend.” He extended warm New Year greetings to Cambodians, marking his second visit to the country in nine years. The Chinese leader expressed hopes that this visit would advance the building of a China-Cambodia community with a shared future.
H.E. Xi Jinping quoted a Chinese verse, “True friendship, like refined gold, withstands all tests of time,” to emphasize the enduring nature of the China-Cambodia friendship. He expressed confidence that, through joint efforts, this ironclad friendship would remain steadfast amidst challenges and adversities.
The Chinese President highlighted China’s readiness to collaborate with Cambodia in safeguarding peace, pursuing development, and achieving shared prosperity. He stressed the importance of making tangible progress in establishing the China-Cambodia community with a shared future, aiming to bring greater stability and certainty to the world.
The foundation of this community lies in the long-standing good-neighbourly relations, strengthened by geographical proximity and friendly exchanges spanning over two millennia. H.E. Xi Jinping emphasized that this relationship is driven by equality and mutual benefit.
For several years, China has been Cambodia’s largest trading partner and primary source of investment, with industrial and supply chain cooperation continuing to deepen.
H.E. Xi Jinping and his high-level delegation arrived safely at Phnom Penh International Airport this morning at around 11:00 am. The President received a warm welcome from His Majesty the King, Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, alongside Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and other senior Cambodian officials.
