MANILA: More higher education institutions (HEIs) in the country now possess a globalization outlook with 65 PH HEIs joining the top 300 most innovative universities across the globe as per the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2024 report.
Out of the 12,000 HEI entries worldwide, the Philippines is one of the best performing countries in the rankings, securing more than 20 percent of the top 300 ranked HEIs.
“The fact that these HEIS are joining the list of the top universities not just in the WURI rankings but also in the other international ranking bodies shows the globalized outlook and competitiveness of our public and private universities,” CHED Chairperson J. Prospero de Vera III said in a statement late Sunday.
De Vera vowed to sustain support to universities as they pursue international assessments to track their improvement on a year-to-year basis.
‘The collective efforts of Philippine HEIs, assisted by CHED and the national government, are now showing results. Rest assured, we wil
l continue accelerating internationalization, assist university-to-university linkages, and foster partnerships to bring more HEIs in international rankings,’ he said.
WURI is one of three CHED recognized ranking systems for HEI internationalization, the others being Quacquarelli Symonds (QS World, Asia, and Stars), and Times Higher Education (THE World, Asia, and Impact Rankings).
WURI evaluates and ranks top universities with real contributions to society, highlighting creative and innovative approaches on research and educational programs.
