Can Tho women uphold traditional conical hat making craft

The conical hat (non la) making village in Thoi Lai township, Thoi Lai district, Can Tho city currently has more than 36 households earning their livelihoods from this traditional craft. The process of creating a complete hat requires many complex steps such as making the frame, sharpening the brim, weaving the leaves, and making the hat. Each step requires meticulousness and skill from the craftswoman. Despite the small profit, women in Thoi Lai town continue to uphold the traditions by making conical hats and passing down the craft to younger generations
