Cambodia’s Tallest Bridge to Open for Trial Use This Week

Pursat: The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has officially connected the tallest bridge in western Cambodia’s Pursat province, opening it for temporary use during the Khmer New Year holiday. The ceremony for casting to connect the highest bridge in Cambodia was held this morning, under the presidency of H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice-President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, with participation from local authorities and representatives of the construction company.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the ministry announced that the bridge will be open for trial use from April 11 to 17, providing temporary passage for holiday travellers. Built by the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), Bridge No. 28 spans the Russey Chrum River Valley in Chhay Luk village, O’ Som commune, Veal Veng district, along National Road No. 10.

The bridge stands 90 metres tall, with a total length of 537 metres and a width of 10 metres, making it the tallest bridge in the country. It forms part of the 197.3-kilometre-long reconstruction project of National Road No. 10, which connects Battambang and Koh Kong provinces.
