Cambodia’s SOM Leader for Mekong Cooperation Emphasises Significance of MLC


H.E. Meas Kim Heng, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC), Cambodia’s SOM Leader for Mekong Cooperation, attended the 11th Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Senior Officials’ Meeting, co-chaired by the People’s Republic of China and Thailand via videoconference on Aug. 8.

According to the MFAIC, the meeting discussed the preparations for the 9th Mekong-Lancang Foreign Ministers’ Meeting to be held on Aug. 16, 2024 in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and reviewed the progress of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation as well as set future directions for cooperation focusing on people, investment, trade, tourism, prevention of transboundary crime, water management and other areas of interests.

During the meeting, the source pointed out, H.E. Meas Kim Heng highlighted the importance of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation, the implementation of the Five-Year Action Plan (2023-2027) and the invaluable support of the Government of the People’s Republic of China in promoting the Mekong-Lancan
g Cooperation Framework for the sake of peace, stability and prosperity in the Mekong subregion.
