Phnom Penh: Cambodia exported US$2.3 billion worth of merchandise in January 2025, a year-on-year increase of 17.3 percent, said a report from the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia on Feb. 10.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the U.S and Vietnam were the Kingdom’s biggest buyers with export amounts of US$868 million and US$278 million, respectively, followed by Japan, China, Canada, and Spain. Cambodia’s free trade agreements with China and South Korea and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) have gradually contributed to the trade growth, the Ministry of Commerce’s Secretary of State and Spokesperson H.E. Penn Sovicheat said. ‘Free trade agreements, regional trade agreements – RCEP, and trade preferences are catalysts in boosting the country’s exports,’ he underlined.
A report from the Ministry of Economy and Finance highlights that the Kingdom’s main export products are garments, machinery, electrical equipment, footwear products, leather goods, grain, furniture, rubber, fruits, vegetables, pearls, toys, and textiles. Meanwhile, Cambodia imported US$2.75 billion worth of goods from abroad in the first month of this year. Major imports include medicines and supplements, consumables, and food and beverages.
Cambodia’s international trade volume hit US$54.74 billion in 2024, up 16.9 percent from US$46.82 billion in the year before. The export amounted to US$26.19 billion, a 15.7 percent increase from US$22.64 billion in 2023.
